As in the previous year, in 2013 many different structures were developed and used as bearers of colour. This year, too, they were additive and grid structures. The grid structures predominated, becoming increasingly dynamic towards the end of the year. An additional third category consisted of moiré structures, which were mainly tested in the second quarter of the year. The moiré structures create a simple, linear spatial depth that is not founded on geometry – or on perspective. It appears only through association and forms an irrational, imaginary space. The enhancement of image space is also a characteristic of the additive and the grid structures. Here, however, the irrational element is stronger. Through relief associations a highly complex, contradictory spatial effect arises. In this way the imaginary dimension is explored. The imaginary space of the image gains additional impulses as the all-over approach is slightly reduced, and as centres of gravity are emphasised.
