1979/1980
These two years saw a respite in the production of paintings in favor of an extensive literary project. This was not a way out of painting but rather a deeper way of painting with other means. Painting and writing have a common denominator: the opening of poetic space. This term can best describe the objective, an aspiration to the perception of the viewer as to the reader. The opening of poetic space as a term was formulated much later but was always the intention and the standard for this work since the first confrontation with abstract painting in 1963. There is a contextual permanence beyond all formal differences and development stages. The years 1979 and 1980 brought much input through perception and reflection especially during regular gallery visits across Germany. Color remains a focal point in viewing older and newer paintings.
