The previous year was characterized by an experimental restlessness. In contrast, 2004 sees a deepening of this experiment. There is now an experimental development that runs linear. These build upon the results of 2003, concentrating more than ever on the principle of sequence. Here is a renewal of the formal layering of the 80s. The stripe form becomes the dominant element, from which sequences, including layered sequences, may be combined. This has perceptible consequences on the color effect. The single color as an individual color value is put into perspective. In contrast, the common tone gains importance. On the one hand, the color is “democratized”, on the other hand a vague analogy emerges to that of the differentiated color effect of early painters. A painterly graphic quality is activated. The picture surface is forced open in favor of pictorial and color space.
