The 1977 picture type continues on in 1978. There is a basic principle that is utilized and varied upon time and again. Six square zones of equal size are distributed over a horizontal format so that the remaining areas form white stripes. A “displacement” of the squares allows the definition and the change in the placement of the white areas. In doing so, the “light” is arranged as befits the deliberate graphic quality, the poetry of the picture’s statement. There is a further outcome to this design technique. The square zones are no longer anchored in a strict pattern, but roam (mostly) vertically. A painterly movement and lightness is thus created in the picture despite a severe geometric form. Although this basic principle is to be found often in 1978 there are still variations on it. The picture surface is often designed with square or rectangular color zones in other ways. The impetus originates mostly from the content, from the deliberate poetic picture statement that orientates itself towards a graphic vision. Vision being here the inspiration just as the effect is on the viewer. In regard to the effect, the visionary is supported through the optical quality, the homogeneity of the colored areas and the objectivity of the geometry. There are no signs of materialism or the work process. There is only the visual appearance.
